Former agricultural workers recall the sharp social divisions between farmers and laborers in eastern Groningen in the years 1919–1930. Low wages, poor working conditions and unequal labor relations contributed to the political radicalization and organization of agricultural workers, culminating in the bitter and prolonged strike of 1929.
