
A collaborative, newsreel-style portrait of Tokyo in 1957–58, blending photography, animation, and historical imagery to capture the city’s labor, rituals, and nightlife at the moment it became the world’s largest metropolis.
Tokyo 1958 was directed by Susumu Hani, Yoshiro Kawazu, Kyushiro Kusakabe, Sadamu Maruo, Kanzaburo Mushanokoji, Masahiro Ogi, Ryuichiro Sakisaka, Hiroshi Teshigahara and Zenzō Matsuyama.
Tokyo 1958 runs for 24min, and was released in 1958.
